Worlds Apart brought Laurin Strele’s large-format documentary photography into Sagmeister – Der Mann in Bregenz. From 16 July to 5 September 2026, the exhibition presented work from Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Jordan and Bangladesh, focusing on dignity, everyday life and resilience beyond the headlines. Simone Angerer’s scenography integrated the photographs directly into the store architecture, positioning them above clothing rails and tables rather than in a conventional gallery setting. Several works connected to Strele’s first photobook, Worlds Apart, published by Eyeshot. The exhibition was open during Sagmeister’s regular business hours. Admission was free.

Witnessing Conflict is a free artist talk with Laurin Strele at Leica Store & Galerie Stuttgart on Thursday, 24 September 2026, from 18:30 to 20:30. Framed by the theme “Photography between proximity, responsibility and truth,” the evening considers the decisions and ethical responsibility involved in documenting conflict. Laurin reflects on photographing in war and crisis zones, the trust built in fragile situations, and what happens when another person’s reality becomes an image. The evening concludes with an open Q&A. Admission is free, and tickets are available through Eventbrite.

In Witnessing Conflict, Laurin Strele reflects on work from Ukraine, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon: how images from crisis regions are made, the balance between proximity and distance, and the responsibility involved in selecting and publishing documentary photographs.
