The programme.

An outline of the photographic work, not a fixed daily itinerary. The sequence may change with local conditions and access.

Kolkata: establish a visual direction

Begin with story-driven fieldwork in Kolkata. Street life, people and culture provide the context for shaping a personal photographic question. Close mentoring and image review help turn early observations into a direction that can be sustained through the workshop.

Kolkata: deepen the work

Use further field assignments to build on that direction. Look for continuity, variation and the relationships between people and their surroundings. Daily editing is part of the process: what is missing from the sequence should inform what you photograph next.

Varanasi: develop the narrative

Continue the story-led approach in Varanasi. Consider how a different setting changes the work, rather than repeating the same images in another place. Fieldwork, mentoring and reviews support a more deliberate response to people, culture and daily life.

Selection, sequence and feedback

Bring the work from both locations into a considered edit. Discuss how individual photographs function together, which images carry the story and where the project could develop further. The focus remains on narrative clarity and your own photographic voice.
