The story behind Jaipur Stepwell
Jaipur Stepwell turns historic architecture into a study of rhythm, scale and repetition. Flights of stone steps form an almost mathematical field, shifting between warm surfaces and deep shadow as they descend.
A structure created to reach and conserve water becomes, through Laurin Strele’s framing, an abstract composition of lines, ochre tones and quiet depth. Its strong geometry gives the work a contemporary presence on the wall, while the warmth and accumulated texture of the stone keep it rooted in Rajasthan’s history.
