The story behind Young Eagle Hunter
In western Mongolia, near Ölgii, a young Kazakh eagle hunter rides his horse through the still water of a lake. Made in October 2023, the photograph places the rider against the vastness of the landscape and the continuity of a tradition handed down through generations.
Rather than treating eagle hunting as spectacle, Laurin Strele focuses on a quieter passage: youth, responsibility and inherited knowledge moving through the landscape together. The restrained palette, open space and measured motion give the image its calm authority.
