This image represents a crucial moment in my documentation of the war in Ukraine—a soldier, wounded in the shoulder, looks into the lens as a medic removes the bullet with scissors. The yellow iodine and blue stretcher evoke the colors of Ukraine’s flag, symbolizing the delicate balance between resilience and vulnerability in a time of conflict.
Through this work, I hope to shed light on the human cost of war and inspire conversations about the urgency of empathy, understanding, and action in the face of such crises. Thank you to the jury and all who support this mission.
