Laurin Strele collaborated with Hotel Dolmaling in Kathmandu to renew its photographs of the property, its facilities and its staff.
The hotel is located approximately 300 metres from Boudhanath Stupa. The assignment considered this proximity while documenting architectural details and the work of the team, building a visual account grounded in the character of the place rather than a conventional inventory of rooms.
The stay also included Buddhist yoga and meditation practices. Continental breakfast options and Nepalese and Tibetan dishes formed part of the hospitality experience documented around the commission.
The resulting photographs brought together the property’s architecture, daily service and relationship to the cultural setting of Boudhanath.
